Dental Implants
At Redwood Canyon Dentistry, we provide a wide range of dental services to suit your needs, including Castro Valley dental implants. Specifically, dental implants refer to replacement tooth roots that are designed to take the place of a lost adult tooth. These implants look and function just like real teeth and can be a permanent solution to restoring your smile.
Benefits of Dental Implants in Castro Valley
Whether you’ve recently lost a tooth or have been told by your dentist that you need to have a tooth extracted, there are many advantages of dental implants in Castro Valley. For starters, a dental implant can be used in place of your lost or extracted teeth to restore or maintain the appearance of your smile. This can also help to resolve difficulties you may have otherwise had with chewing/eating, drinking, and even speaking.
Dental implants can also help to prevent your teeth from shifting following the loss of a tooth. This can protect you from oral health problems. And unlike temporary solutions, such as dentures and bridges, dental implants are designed to be permanent, since the implant post itself fuses to the jaw bone over time. This means you can avoid the inconvenience of removable bridges and denture adhesives.
What to Expect From Our Castro Valley Dentist
Whether you need an implant for a single tooth or even multiple teeth, our Castro Valley dentist is here to help. Specifically, our very own Dr. Mir can begin with a consultation to determine whether or not you’re a viable candidate for dental implants. This will include a physical examination of the teeth as well as X-rays to assess the health of the jaw bone. Generally, as long as you’re not suffering from jaw bone loss related to periodontal disease (advanced gum disease), you are likely to be a good candidate.
If you do not turn out to be a viable candidate for dental implants, our dental team will take the time to discuss your other tooth replacement options and help you find the solution that best suits your needs.
Dental implants are typically completed over the course of two separate appointments. During the first appointment, the titanium implant post is surgically implanted into the jaw itself. Once the titanium has successfully fused to the jaw bone (usually over the course of several months), the artificial tooth (crown) can be placed on top of the implant post to complete the procedure. From there, follow-up appointments will ensure that the implant is being properly cared for and that there are no signs of problems, such as infection.
